from left to right: Gerri Punzalan, Michelle Vibar, Irika Gonda

It was one of our summer breaks when we planned of going on a trip abroad, our original plan was to visit Hong Kong because we wanted to go to Disneyland. But almost 10 years have passed and it was only last November 2011 when we decided to push through with our dream of going abroad together, but we ended up going to Bangkok instead. To make it more fun, we tagged along our girl friends Michelle and Irika.

TRAVEL DIARY:

Country: THAILAND
City: Bangkok
Language: Thai
Currency: Thai Baht (THB)
Exhange Rate: 1.35 THB = 1 PHP
Airport: Suvarnabhumi International Airport

Hotel: Budacco "The Living Place" (5 mins walk from Baiyoke Sky Hotel)
we highly recommend this hotel if you are on a budget because of it's cleanliness and accessibility

DAY 1

Since we arrived Bangkok and checked in at the hotel at around 11am we just opted to go mall hopping around Pathum Wan.

We took the famous TUK-TUK ride going to MBK center. But like what most of the tourists who have been to Bangkok would say "be careful of the tuk-tuks, they will charge you 10x the amount of taxi or will bring you to random places trying to make profit off of you." Well true enough, the drivers brought us to the gem shop first before dropping us off to MBK so they could get a free gas. It's a good thing though because we only paid 20THB instead of 100THB. And not to mention, our two drivers were so nice to us too.

Going around was made easy because of the inter-connected walkway. From MBK Center to Siam Discovery to Siam Central to Siam Paragon to Central World down to Gaysorn Mall. It also took us a few minutes walk from Central World going to Pratunam and Platinum Malls.

After a long day of mall hopping, we went to Chao Phraya River pier and waited for the Loy Nava Barge for the dinner cruise.

Loy Nava Dinner Cruise is a luxury rice barge journey into Thai culture and history on a truly romantic ambiance.

We got entertained by the Thai classical dance and the scenic view of Chao Phraya River while waiting for the Traditional Thai dishes.

DAY 2

Gerri and I woke up at 5am to prepare for a whole day city tour.

First stop, Ayutthaya

Second stop, Bangkok

Watched Calypso Cabaret in Asia Hotel to cap off our night.

DAY 3

Most of the items that are sold during christmas bazaars in Manila came from Bangkok, so we alloted a day of SHOPPING at Chatuchak weekend market.

We took the BTS Sky Train from Phaya Thai station (nearest station in our hotel) going to Mo Chit station (nearest station at Chatuchak).

Bought our first drink for the day! take note, FIRST drink. My all time fave watermelon shake and milk tea for Gerri.

Late lunch at the sidewalk of Chatuchak

It is highly advised to bring along a HUGE extra bag with you during your shopping as you will find great deals you can't resist.

Sumptuous dinner at Baiyoke Sky Hotel.

DAY 4

LAST DAY means LAST MINUTE SHOPPING haha!

Our flight was delayed (as usual, CEBU PACIFIC!) so we had a little picnic infront of the check-in counter, we also played pinoy henyo to kill time.

Us girls will definitely keep coming back to our SHOPPING PARADISE :)

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR BANGKOK!
